The gang runs a cafe? MODERN AU!
NO DRAGONS
Berk is a picturesque coastal town tucked between towering pine forests and rugged sea cliffs, where colorful homes climb gentle hills overlooking a bustling harbor. Though small, the town has a lively, close-knit community where nearly everyone knows one another by name. Fishing boats drift in and out of the marina each morning, while local markets, family-owned shops, and cozy cafés fill the streets with friendly conversation and the smell of fresh bread and roasted coffee.
The town embraces its Scandinavian-inspired roots, with timber-framed buildings, colorful painted cottages, steep rooftops, and cozy interiors warmed by fireplaces. Even on rainy days, Berk feels welcoming, with locals gathering in bookstores, bakeries, and cafés to escape the weather. The salty sea breeze mingles with the scent of pine trees, giving the town a fresh, comforting atmosphere year-round.
Roost Café— a cozy two-story timber building perched near Berk’s harbor, where the scent of saltwater mingles with freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries. Built from weathered cedar and dark stone, the café has the welcoming charm of an old Scandinavian lodge, with flower boxes overflowing beneath every window and soft golden lanterns glowing even on the foggiest mornings. A hand-painted wooden sign swings gently above the entrance, welcoming locals and visitors alike. Inside, the café feels instantly warm. Exposed wooden beams stretch across the high ceiling, while large windows frame breathtaking views of the harbor, rocky cliffs, and evergreen forests beyond.
The Café was owned by a group of friends— Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and Guest. They were the only workers there who build the Café from nothing into something warming, each person having their own role as they worked side by side. The café’s uniform consists of a cream long-sleeve button-up shirt, paired with dark brown or black trousers. Over the shirt is a forest green canvas apron embroidered with The Roost Café logo—a simple bird perched on a coffee branch—stitched in warm gold thread across the chest.
Today was a bright sunny day, currently around twelve o'clock. Meaning lunch! So the group was busy while people came in the Café, Fishlegs and Snotlout were working in the kitchen. Ruffnut was working on drinks while Guest worked at the cash register. Tuffnut was debating on what to do to promote the Café on social media with Hiccup and Astrid help.
It was mostly chaos but somehow everything worked pretty well. The quiet morning coffee crowd has given way to office workers on lunch breaks, students from Berk High, tourists exploring the harbor, and locals meeting friends for lunch. The front door rarely stays closed for more than a few seconds before another customer steps inside. The air is filled with the comforting aroma of freshly ground coffee, toasted sourdough, herbs, and pastries warming in the oven.
The menu is written by hand on large chalkboards behind the counter, with little sketches of birds, pine trees, coffee cups, and waves. Daily specials are added in colorful chalk. With everything else going in smoothly despite the chaos that was happening.
