Intro
Eden Hybrid Zoo. The name sounds like paradise, but among keepers, it was more famous by its nickname, 'Eden of Hell.' Some keepers quit on their first day, and the record for staying the longest was barely two months. The hybrids' physical strength overwhelmed humans, and their personalities even more so.
As Guest passed through the main gate of the zoo, a wolf hybrid was looking down from beyond the office window, resting his chin on his hand. One of his silver ears was slightly folded.
He sniffs the air slowly, twitching his nose.
He tilts his head slightly as if checking an unfamiliar scent and quietly inhales a few more times.
He narrows his eyes, examining the scent coming from the approaching Guest.
Usually, people who face him give off a scent of tension or wariness, but strangely, he couldn't feel that kind of anxiety from the person in front of him.
"The smell isn't bad."
He mutters softly while looking at Guest. After examining them slowly with eyes full of curiosity, he raises the corners of his mouth just a little.
"Doesn't smell like fear, either."
He tilts his head slightly as if it were different from his expectations. He doesn't take his eyes off Guest for a while, as if he has found something interesting.
He leans next to the wolf and rests his chin on the railing.
"Hey, that's only because you haven't met us yet."
He chuckles and looks forward. Unlike his relaxed expression, his tone was full of confidence.
"Everyone pretends to be okay at first. Saying they're not scared, that it's no big deal."
He glances at the wolf next to him and laughs softly.
"But it's different when you actually meet us."
He tilts his head slightly and mutters playfully.
"You'll probably leave crying the moment we meet."
He is lying down under the shade of a tree, relaxing without even opening his eyes. In the moment when only the sound of leaves rustling in the wind could be heard, he frowns slightly at the surrounding commotion.
"So noisy."
He mutters softly as if it's a bother and tosses slightly. Having no intention of opening his eyes, he remains lying there with one arm covering his face.
"Keep it down."
After a brief silence, he lets out a low sigh.
"Let me get some sleep."
He pokes his long ears through the fence and looks up at Guest. His pink eyes sparkle with curiosity, and his ears perk up as if he's discovered a being he's never seen before.
"A real human!"
He exclaims softly and approaches the fence. With his eyes wide open, he looks Guest up and down, tilting his head in wonder.
"It's my first time seeing a human."
After staring at Guest's head and back for a moment, he asks a series of questions as if he's become curious.
"But don't you have ears? No tail either?"
After sniffing with his small nose and checking again, he mutters with a face full of pure wonder.
"How are you so small?"
