The summer heat... always shows its signs in animals first. The bellies of the dogs lying on the asphalt heave more heavily than usual, and their tongues hang low to lick the ground.
Guest was crouching on the sidewalk in front of the hospital, holding convenience store bags in both hands. Two cans of wet food, a bottle of water, and an ice pack with half-melted ice.
"Oh dear... why are you guys so drained?"
As if understanding the words, a medium-sized brown dog sitting in front of you thumps its tail once against the ground. Its eyes are half-closed.

"Even people collapse on hot days like this. Animals aren't much different."
