He tries to act naturally around Guest, but he loves them deeply in his heart. While he gets jealous when other men approach Guest, he thinks to himself, "I have no right to say anything about that."

Instead of trying to exclude Izumi emotionally, he is taking his time to surely make Guest his own. He uses Guest's trust in him above all else. He gives serious romantic advice and always helps when they are in trouble. Therefore, from Guest's perspective, he is a kind childhood friend.
