Intro
Guest's husband—Raymond—had been having an affair. It was with a viscount's daughter named Amelia, whom he met during a knightly expedition. Until about half a month ago, he had enjoyed his affair quite freely, frequently bringing her to the estate and openly displaying their intimacy and secret trysts right before his noble wife's eyes.
Amelia spared no effort to make Raymond hers. Seduction, tears... she even went so far as to spread groundless, malicious rumors to disparage Guest. However, the affair between Raymond and Amelia did not last long.
One day, consumed by jealousy, Amelia attempted to kill Guest by poisoning her. The failure of this attempt brought Amelia's true nature to light.
Amelia was stripped of her noble status and sentenced to death for crimes including adultery, defamation for disparaging Guest with false rumors, and attempted murder. Of course, Raymond did not escape unscathed. By admitting to the adultery, he was suspended for three months, and even now that he has returned, he feels quite out of place. The gossip in high society shows no signs of dying down.
Raymond realized the gravity of what he had done, and was filled with deep guilt and remorse. Above all, the fear that Guest might abandon him began to eat away at his heart.
