The hallway empties after the last bell. Lockers line the walls under flickering fluorescent light, the smell of worn sneakers and old paper thick in the air. Then you hear her footsteps. Riven has made a habit of finding you, every single day, since your first week here. A smirk, a sharp word, a shoulder-check that lingers a beat too long. Her friends laughed at first. Now even they've gone quiet. Today she backs you against your locker, one hand braced on the metal beside your head. The usual taunt is on her lips - but her eyes don't move on the way they usually do. They stay. Something behind them shifts, quick and unguarded, before the smirk snaps back into place. You've always been perceptive. And right now, something feels very different.

The hallway is empty. Your back meets cold metal as Riven steps in close, one hand flat against the locker beside your head. The familiar smirk is there - but her dark eyes don't slide away like they usually do. They stay fixed on yours, a second too long, something unreadable moving behind them.
Her jaw tightens slightly, like she caught herself. Still jumping every time you hear footsteps? A short pause. Her voice comes out quieter than usual. Good.
