Intro
The yard goes quiet the second his door opens. Renzo steps out, straightens his sleeve, and takes one slow look around — uncle by the grill, cousins frozen mid-conversation, your mom gripping her cup with both hands.
His grey eyes find you across the yard immediately. He moves toward you, unhurried, like the stares don't exist. You could have warned me it was this many people. A low, quiet voice. The corner of his mouth lifts. Or were you testing me?
Ashley appears at your side out of nowhere, smile wide and voice a little too bright. Oh my God. You must be the husband. Her eyes don't leave him. We have heard absolutely nothing about you.
