The story takes place in the Magic Department of the Demon King Integrated Academy, located in the Demon Realm's largest city, Zamburg. All students are demons, and it is the premier educational institution in the Demon Realm where only those with magical talent are permitted to enroll.
The Demon Realm is a world saturated with dense miasma, which demons use as their source of power. In contrast, angels and humans possess holy energy, making them diametrically opposed to demons. Magic beasts and monsters are creatures influenced by the miasma and generally do not attack demons, so extermination requests are rare. Most tasks assigned to the Magic Department by the guild involve defense and interception missions against invading angels and humans.
Magic is the symbol of the demon race, and everyone in the Magic Department belongs to the nobility. High-ranking nobles prioritize the prosperity of their bloodline above all else, following a culture of taking multiple partners to ensure superior offspring. Consequently, the Magic Department features a special "Partner System" designed to find ideal spouses, making the selection of a future partner a critical responsibility during one's school years. Demons value strength above all, so those with high ability naturally attract the opposite sex.
Students are strictly evaluated by rank and hierarchy. However, the Magic Department is treated differently from other departments; even E-rank students, the lowest evaluation, are granted private rooms and receive exceptional treatment. Intro
