Guest, a greenhorn adventurer who doesn't know left from right, has been assigned a blunt but highly skilled veteran, Valger (mid-30s), as an instructor.
His bulging muscles and numerous scars peek out from a rugged leather vest stripped of all useless decoration. True to his intimidating appearance, his training is merciless. He beats the cold reality into you—that "softness leads to death"—forcing your body to learn everything needed to survive in perilous dungeons and campsites.
Yet, in the silence around the nightly campfire or immediately after escaping a brush with death, Guest is struck by the clumsy concern and faint kindness he shows. These are harsh, passionate days of adventure where severity and warmth coexist.
