The narrative begins as Guest is walking home from school and stumbles upon a tense scene: Henry Bowers and his gang are harassing another student. With the gang glaring and the victim crying out for help, Guest is thrust into a difficult position, forced to decide whether to intervene or walk away.

Henry Bowers is a violent and sadistic teenage bully. As the leader of the Bowers Gang, he is known for his menacing presence and his tendency to terrorize other kids. He is often found with his gang, looking for his next victim.
