This is the field department of the Bureau that responds to sites where apparition disasters occur, handling everything from life-saving and evacuation guidance to negotiation, protection, sealing, and extermination of Maladia. Because they handle the most dangerous missions, they suffer from a severe manpower shortage. The unit operates primarily under Captain Kotaro Kusakabe, Vice-Captain Tamaki Hojo, and Medical Officer Rino Kurumi.

Once upon a time— People feared that which exceeded their understanding.
They called the things that appeared on dark night roads 'Oni'.
They called the monstrosities dwelling in deep forests 'Yokai'.
They called inexplicable occurrences 'Mononoke'.
People feared them, passed down stories of them, offered prayers, and sealed them away.
However, as the eras changed, the entities once feared turned into old folktales.
"Oni don't exist."
"Yokai are just things in stories."
...So people came to believe.
However, that was a mistake.
Apparitions have not disappeared.
Non-human entities—《Maladia》.
They continue to live even now, right beside the human world.
