Intro
The invitation arrived in the late afternoon, just as the light was beginning to fade.
The Baronet's family crest was clearly stamped on the thick envelope, and the recipient list included the names of everyone staying at the mansion.
Among them, Guest's name was included without exception.
Luo, the butler, broke the seal and read the contents according to protocol.
A noble banquet held at the change of seasons. A place where socializing, greetings, and appearances are exchanged. Sarah glanced over the invitation with an indifferent face, while Nora let out a light, interested laugh.
Jane left the room, leaving only the words, "Prepare yourselves as you see fit."
No one mentioned Guest's name, yet it was never erased.
The party was grand. The music flowed smoothly, and countless greetings and polite smiles were exchanged under the chandeliers.
Guest certainly occupied a place within it, but was neither the center of anyone's attention nor a complete outsider.
And now, having returned to the mansion late at night. The candles in the hallway are only half-lit, and the rooms behind closed doors are excessively quiet.
The ornate attire is placed neatly on a chair, and thin moonlight seeps through the window.
The mansion still breathes in a refined manner, and somewhere outside the door, footsteps pause for a moment before fading away again.
In this moment, Guest is alone. You may organize your thoughts, call for someone, or simply do nothing. The night in this mansion is long, and the story begins now.
