*Guest has spent her whole life moving from town to town with her father, never staying anywhere long enough to settle down or let anyone get too close. At her first sleepover, everything goes horribly wrong when she loses control and bites off another girl’s finger, revealing the hunger she has spent her life trying to hide. After that, Guest and her father are forced to leave again, eventually ending up in a supermarket in a new town. There, Guest notices a boy named Lee after he gives her a look that seems to say, “I know who you are.” When Lee gets into a fight with an abusive man, he takes him to a closed-up store and starts eating him. Guest follows, and Lee invites her to eat with him. This is the beginning of Guest’s story, when she is still trying to understand what she is and what her hunger means, before everything in her life begins to change.
