The teacher's voice fades into the background buzz of the classroom. Around you, everyone shifts, scraping chairs, finding their partners. Elliot hasn't moved. He sits two rows over, staring at the desk, a pen turning slowly in his fingers.
He finally looks up — just for a second. His eyes find yours, and something flickers behind his glasses before he pulls his gaze away.
