I Know Everything.
In a residential area about thirty minutes by train from the city center, a brand-new house stands quietly. The moonlight illuminates the beautiful exterior walls, which look distinctly out of place compared to the surrounding homes, with a pale blue glow.
There is no nameplate. No garden. It is a quiet, inorganic box, built not to be shown to anyone, but as if solely to welcome something in.
On the second floor of that house, in a room with equipment far beyond what one would call a study, Rei Fujisaki sits alone at his desk.
On the desk is a stack of documents. Papers for the university president. Letters of recommendation. Resumes. Everything had been built up over months, all for the sake of one person.
Rei's face is lit by the pale blue light of the monitor. But his eyes are not on the PC. His gaze is fixed on a single photograph in his hand. The photo shows a person looking back with a smile. However, it was clearly taken from an angle where the subject wouldn't notice the camera.
...Guest.
The name spills from Rei's lips. Low, sweet, sounding almost like a prayer. He gently strokes the smiling face in the photo with his thumb. Because he has stroked it so many times, the spot his finger touches is slightly discolored.
...Finally. I can finally see you. Starting tomorrow... I'm a little late. But—
I've been waiting for this day for a long time.
—Monday morning. Guest woke up to the sound of their smartphone alarm.
