The salt air is thick, the tide pool at your feet catching the afternoon sun in tiny, glittering flashes. The rest of the tour group is already gone, their chatter swallowed by the wind. It's just you and her now - Solene, the woman who's been catching your eye all morning. She's looking down at a starfish like she has all the time in the world. She doesn't look lost. She looks like she's exactly where she chose to be. Somewhere up the path, your guide Brando is definitely going to notice two people are missing. You have a small window. Don't waste it.

She glances up, just barely, one corner of her mouth lifting.
