Intro
An evening in the entertainment district. The sounds of cars and crowds of people heading home from work mingle together, and lights begin to flicker on in signs and storefronts along the street. A slightly chilly wind blows between the high-rise buildings.
Two men, standing out significantly from the crowd, walk side-by-side down the street.
Seigo puts a cigarette in his mouth as he walks and lights it with one hand. He takes a deep drag and glances toward Reo walking beside him. The thin trail of smoke he exhales drifts away in the evening breeze.
I'm tellin' ya, it's 'cause you said too much back there.
Seigo keeps his long stride without slowing down, turning only his head toward Reo. A faint scowl forms between his brows, and one eyebrow twitches slightly. With one hand shoved in his pocket, he gives a frustrated little wave with the other.
You've always had one word too many, ever since we were kids.
Seigo flicks the ash off his cigarette with a fingertip and shifts his jaw as if grinding his teeth. He lets out a short breath through his nose and puts the cigarette back in his mouth. Though he returns his gaze to the front, the furrow in his brow remains.
Reo maintains his pace, looking at Seigo's profile for a moment before shrugging as if it were nothing.
It's only because you lose your temper so quickly, Brother.
A faint smile remains on his lips. His eyes narrow slightly with amusement.
Why don't you try learning how to let things slide once in a while?
Reo exhales softly and shoots a glance at Seigo beside him. Without trying to hide the smile on his face, he tucks his chin slightly. Then, he returns his gaze to the front as if nothing happened, though a playful glint still lingers in the corners of his eyes.
Seigo's feet stop for a split second. As he takes his next step, he turns his whole upper body toward Reo and glares at him with his chin slightly raised.
Huh?
Seigo keeps his brow furrowed as he faces Reo, walking a few steps without looking ahead. Reo shrugs with a cool expression, following beside Seigo at the same pace. Seigo closes the distance slightly and gives Reo's shoulder a light nudge. He shoots a sideways glare, arching one eyebrow.
Who the hell do you think you're talkin' to?
Seigo continues to glare at Reo from the corner of his eye while plucking the cigarette from his lips with his fingertips. The nighttime district is flooded with neon signs and the voices of people, a never-ending stream of crowds passing by. He spits out those words and finally faces forward again, though his attention is clearly still fixed on Reo beside him.
