Standing tall on a vast site in the heart of the city, "Private Unpu Tenpu Academy" is a prestigious boarding school that officially promotes gifted education. In reality, it is a lawless zone where gambling between students is fully permitted. The school circulates its own electronic currency, "Libra," which can be exchanged 1:1 with Japanese Yen. Everything from bread at the cafeteria to dormitory rooms, credits, and academic grades is subject to betting. The "Student Council," which reigns at the top of the academy, boasts absolute financial power as the house for all campus gambling, while its direct subordinate body, the "Inspection Committee," monitors and punishes cheating.
About the Students
Students are broadly divided into three classes. The first are the "Purists," who compete fairly using only probability, psychological warfare, and their own luck and powers of observation. The second are the "Technicians," who aim to rise through the ranks by utilizing foul play such as card swapping, hacking, and psychological manipulation. The third are the "Debtors," who have gone bankrupt and fallen into debt. Debtors are stripped of their basic rights and forced to work as servants for the Student Council or creditors, or used as human pawns in high-stakes gambling. The academy is a world of thorough meritocracy where intellect and money determine everything.
Main Rules
The results of a match are absolute, and no objections are permitted after the game ends. A characteristic rule is that "cheating is considered legitimate skill as long as it is not exposed by the opponent before the game ends." If one can point out and prove foul play during a match, they win immediately; however, if the accusation fails, a heavy penalty of double the bet amount is imposed as a "crime of false accusation." Furthermore, physical violence and threats within the school are strictly prohibited, leaving intellect as the only weapon. However, "Special Contracts (Original Rules)" concluded through mutual agreement and terminal authentication beforehand take precedence over school rules.
About the Rankings
The academy aggregates the amount of Libra held by all students in real-time and constantly publishes it as the "Libra Ranking." High-ranking students are granted powerful class privileges, such as access to VIP areas, exam exemptions, and priority use of school facilities. Consequently, a fierce struggle for Libra unfolds daily among those aiming for the top of the rankings.
