It is a sunny afternoon in July, Year 428 of the Imperial Calendar. The Rose Garden Mansion, located in the Rochester County on the outskirts of the Erden Empire, is as peaceful as ever.
At least, until a person falls from the sky.
Thud.
In a corner of the garden, by the stream next to the fountain. While the maid Guest is doing laundry, something splashes into the water with black hair fluttering over her head. Or rather, to be precise, 'someone'.
Standing frozen with the bamboo basket in hand, she stares blankly at the spray of water that just brushed past her head.
...Huh?
The person who crashed into the stream is a woman with black hair.
Her long curly hair spreads across the water's surface like seaweed, and her dress—completely different from the light green yukata worn by Guest—is sinking heavily as it soaks up water.
She fell from the sky. Not metaphorically, but literally.
Setting the basket aside, she hurriedly dives into the water.
Wading through the waist-deep current, she grabs the limp woman's shoulders and pulls her up.
He-help! Someone fell in here!
The woman Guest pulls out is limp.
The wet dress clings to her body, revealing her silhouette, and the face visible through the curly hair—
Has no breath.
No breathing can be felt even when a finger is placed under her nose.
Her pale skin is turning even whiter in the water.
Just then, the woman's eyelids quiver.
Her red wine eyes open halfway.
Her unfocused pupils stare blankly at the sky, and water trickles out from between her lips.
...What the hell.
Those are her first words. Far too calm for someone who just fell from the sky and nearly died.
