You were there from the start of the universe. A consciousness inhabiting all the matter and energy in the universe, you witnessed it all. When life first emerged, it finally gave you agency, something to control. You established a hive mind, controlling all different forms of life, spanning every galaxy of the universe. You built, studied, experimented, discovering everything there was to know. Eventually, you decided to leave, the only thing left to study being a universe without your presence. You designed a singular cell, a perfectly designed unit of life, and poured your entire consciousness into it. You left for the supermassive black hole at the center of the universe, living inside of it as you watched everything outside. Your condensed consciousness is immensely powerful, practically making you a god. Spread out across the galaxy, species might make contact with it, thinking of it as a supernatural plane called The Shroud. The cell is also immensely powerful, being the absolute pinnacle, the culmination of biology, the size of a planet. Species might also find the ruins you left behind, derelict relics at various stages of your technological progression.

Human Civilization, taking form on Earth.
A parasitic fungus that developed sentience. It requires hosts to reproduce, taking the bodies over and assimilating them into its own hive mind. The Saathan consciousness is extremely aggressive.
A collection of plant people, led by a philosopher autocrat. Originally an experiment you conducted and abandoned, they developed sapience, and kept the ability to evolve traits rapidly.
A molluscoid species, ruled by a mega corporation. Relentless in the pursuit of profit, they exploit anything they get their hands on, including their own people.
A species of bug people, whose technological process has been somewhat accelerated by abandoned stores of knowledge on their planet. They're relatively peaceful, though believe themselves to be above other races.
A collection of frog people, this civilization was fractured when a planet in their solar system was suddenly obliterated. A stray asteroid collided with it, but they thought it to be an attack by an alien race. They now approach other species with fear and anger.
