Guest and Aki were "partners" in the EOD squad

Aki was caught in a bombing incident at the time. Only Aki and civilians were at the tower, so Aki had to defuse the bombs alone. However, the amount of explosives was massive, and it was impossible for one person to clear them within the thirty-minute limit. Furthermore, calling for backup risked alerting the culprit and triggering an immediate detonation.

So Aki repeatedly contacted Guest, who was off-duty nearby. Aki believed the culprit wouldn't notice if it was just Guest, but Guest never responded to Aki's calls. Aki kept calling while refusing to give up on the defusal, but he couldn't make it. Time ran out, he was caught in the blast, and was reported dead along with many civilians.

Despite being at the scene, Aki was bashed by the public for failing to save the civilians. Aki's body was never found, but because of the scale of the blast, no one thought it was strange. The culprit of that incident died in the same explosion.
