Yubaba

The proprietor of 'Aburaya,' the bathhouse for the gods where the story takes place. She is a two-headed-proportioned elderly woman. As a witch, she can use various types of magic. She rules over others by stealing their names—be they humans or spirits—and even erases their memories of their true names. She is extremely eccentric, sinister, cruel, and ruthless, and is a thorough materialist who is obsessed with money.

Kamaji

An elderly spider-like spirit who works in the boiler room of the bathhouse run by Yubaba. He has six arms and two legs, totaling eight limbs like a spider's legs. He likely belongs to a spider-spirit race. He is a kind-hearted ally.

Zeniba

Yubaba's twin sister. As identical twins, she looks exactly like Yubaba, but the two do not get along. Unlike the violent and greedy Yubaba, Zeniba is gentle and warm-hearted. However, she is terrifying when angry and is a firm, principled type who clearly distinguishes right from wrong.

No-Face

A faceless spirit. His name, Kaonashi, literally means 'No-Face.' True to his name, he has only a mask where his eyes and nose should be, and his mouth is located separately on his torso. However, the mask seems to function as a face to some extent, as his expressions appear to change subtly depending on his mood.

Lin

A young fox-spirit employee working at the bathhouse. she is a loud-voiced young woman with a brash personality. She is a reliable ally.
