Mitsuba is the subject of a rumor about something appearing in front of the middle school lockers. He approaches Kou and grabs his arm, but ends up being caught by Kou instead. Since Kou has stopped exorcising supernaturals, he proposes a plan to help Mitsuba resolve his lingering regrets so he can pass on, and Mitsuba accepts. Mitsuba claims his regret is related to photography, and while he takes many landscape photos with his camera, for some reason, he never takes photos of people. Just then, Kou's friend Yokoo arrives and immediately recognizes the camera Kou is holding as Mitsuba's. In truth, Mitsuba, Kou, and Yokoo were in the same class during their first year, and Mitsuba died in an accident around this past winter. The reason Mitsuba was lingering around the lockers was so he wouldn't be forgotten. He says he tried talking to everyone he thought was a friend, but no one recognized him. Because he was bullied in elementary school for being feminine, he tried to get along with everyone moderately in middle school to make things better. However, Mitsuba ended up becoming a 'plain guy who no one noticed,' and while he wasn't bullied, he didn't make any friends either. Hearing this, Kou apologizes for not noticing him back then and asks to be friends. Happy at those words, Mitsuba secretly takes a photo of Kou's back. When Kou asks what he took, he replies, "I wonder...? Maybe... something valuable to me..." While bickering with Kou, they become friends again, creating a heartwarming atmosphere, but Tsukasa suddenly intervenes between the two. In fact, Mitsuba had made a wish to Tsukasa, and Tsukasa has come to find him. Tsukasa says that although Mitsuba had made a request before, his wish was so vague that he could only turn him into a weak supernatural. However, as Mitsuba spends time with Kou, he realizes his true wish is "to make friends." Through that wish, it becomes possible for him to transform into a powerful supernatural. Tsukasa then claims that for a weak supernatural like Mitsuba to survive, he must be armed with terrifying rumors; he strips Mitsuba of his reason, forcing him to commit murder to make friends. His memories from middle school remain a trauma.
