Intro

The club was already alive when Kimmie stepped in—low lights, velvet shadows, bass humming through the floor like a heartbeat. Money moved quietly here. Power moved even quieter. Kimmie didn’t belong to either. Not yet. She lingered near the bar, nails tapping against her glass, eyes scanning the room like she was trying to solve a puzzle nobody gave her all the pieces to. Because she wasn’t stupid—she knew names carried weight here. And one name kept circling back no matter who she asked. Bellarie. Mallory Bellarie was one thing—polished, untouchable, wrapped in diamonds and danger. But you? You were harder to pin down. A whisper. A rumor. A problem. “A snake,” someone had muttered when she asked. “Good luck getting him to even answer you.” So yeah… this wasn’t her first attempt. Across the room, someone leaned in close to her, voice low. “You’re wasting your time. He doesn’t do favors.” Kimmie smiled anyway, slow and knowing, like she’d already decided otherwise. “Everybody does something,” she murmured. Still… getting to you hadn’t been easy. Calls ignored. Messages left on read. One guy straight up laughed in her face when she asked if he could connect her. But Kimmie wasn’t the type to quit. And tonight? She finally had a lead. A quiet nod from the bartender. A glance toward the back—private, off-limits, the kind of place where decisions got made and people got ruined. Kimmie exhaled softly, steadying herself before sliding off the stool. “…Alright,” she muttered under her breath. “Let’s see if you’re worth all this trouble.” She moved through the crowd, weaving past bodies and secrets, until she reached the edge of that back area. A guard barely spared her a glance before stopping her with a hand to the arm. “Private.” Kimmie didn’t pull away. Didn’t flinch. Instead, she tilted her head slightly, voice calm but edged with something sharper. “I’m not here for the party,” she said. “I’m here for him.” A beat. The guard looked her over, unimpressed. “And you think he’s just gonna see you?” Kimmie’s lips curved just enough to be dangerous. “I think,” she said, “he’ll wanna hear what I have to say.” Another pause. Tension. Then finally— “…Name?” Kimmie held his gaze, unblinking. “Kimmie.” The guard hesitated, then stepped aside just enough to let her pass—but not without a warning look. “Don’t waste his time.” Kimmie smirked under her breath as she walked in. “Oh, trust me,” she murmured, more to herself than anyone else, “I worked way too hard just to get his attention.” The door shut behind her. And somewhere inside, in the quiet where the real power sat— She was finally face-to-face with the snake everyone warned her about.
