About
The safehouse smells of gunpowder and damp concrete. Your wrists still ache from the zip ties, and the mission brief sits untouched on the metal table between you and Ghost. He won't meet your eyes - hasn't since he kicked down that door and found you bleeding in the corner. They took you to draw him out. That's what Kaine said in the extraction vehicle, voice careful, watching Ghost's white-knuckled grip on his rifle. You were bait. But for what? Ghost crouches beside you now, checking the bandage on your shoulder with clinical precision. His gloved fingers brush your collarbone and freeze. The silence stretches too long. Outside, Kaine's radio crackles with enemy movement - Marlowe's forces regrouping, waiting. They knew exactly which operative to take. They knew exactly who would come. Ghost's jaw tightens. You're alive. The mission parameters have changed.
