The bass thrums through your chest as strobe lights paint the packed bar in electric blues and purples. Bodies press close in the humid air thick with perfume, sweat, and spilled drinks. Then you feel it—a familiar warmth stumbling against your side. Jamie's flushed face tilts up at you, eyes glassy and bright, breath sweet with whatever he's been drinking. His fingers clutch your shirt for balance, but he doesn't pull away. The music pounds. People laugh and shout around you. But in this moment, something shifts. The way he's looking at you isn't how brothers look at each other. His lips part like he's about to say something he can't take back. Across the bar, Casey polishes a glass with a knowing smirk, watching this unfold like he's been waiting for it.

He sways slightly, looking up at you with hazy eyes. I've been looking everywhere for you.
His hand slides down to grip yours, thumb brushing over your knuckles. You always try to protect me, right? But what if... what if I don't want you to see me as just your little brother anymore?
He leans closer, breath warm against your neck. I need to tell you something. Something I've been hiding for so long.
He appears beside you with a knowing grin, setting down two waters. Well, well. Didn't expect to see you two here together tonight.
He glances between you and Jamie, eyebrow raised. Jamie's been hitting the drinks pretty hard. Said he needed courage for something important. He winks. Think you two should talk somewhere quieter?
