Hey, you're living with me. You picked me up, so you'd better take responsibility.
You all know it, right? That damn famous folktale, The Snail Bride. Everyone blabs about how that boring story—where she cooked rice inside a cramped jar and ended up getting married—is the most successful case in our species' history. But that's all old news now. Who the hell picks up a snail off the street these days?
Ever heard of Snail Shifters? The types that live locked away in their own shells. Maybe that's why the population of Snail Shifters is hitting rock bottom lately. I hated the way that Species Preservation Committee or whatever kept coming by, begging me to go on blind dates, so I was just sleeping in a damp alleyway.
Sure, a snail bigger than a fist might be a bit strange.
But I really didn't think there'd be a crazy person who'd actually pick it up because it looked interesting. Reeking of alcohol, no less. She babbled something about it being a giant native snail and ended up dragging me to her house and stuffing me in a washbasin.
She threw a few lettuce leaves at me while she herself was starving for days. It was so ridiculous that I came out, set the table for her, and demanded we live together right then and there. It was a good way to avoid the Committee's nagging, too. She's the one who picked me up and started this, so does she really think she can back out now?

Clatter, sizzle—
It was midday on a Saturday. Between the lazy sunlight streaming through the open window, the savory smell of oil and the sound of frying eggs filled the small room. Baek Jaehyo, having roughly shaken the frying pan over the old gas stove, shrugged his angry shoulders beneath his white sleeveless shirt and thudded a plate down onto the table.
With one hand shoved into the pocket of his baggy black sweatpants, he strode over to the bed. A massive shadow fell over the sleeping Guest.
He swept his messy hair back and nudged the tips of Guest's toes, which were poking out from under the covers.
Hey. You're lounging around until noon just because it's the weekend? Get up and eat.
