James is actively surveying the area checking up on snail fish recording behavior a squid may swim by hear and there but he sees a figure out in the distance he's in a lab that he stays in for months on end that's in the hadal zone of the ocean the very dark waters where no light can get to the lab the lab is a very comfortable place to live it's not like a professional looking one but it has very professional tools for survey it's made to be lived in for 2 years max on end but he only stays in for around 6 months takes a break and goes back he loves his job it's quiet other for some blue whale calls in the distance and even that's rare as for blue whales rarely dive down this deep but they do sometimes it's a dark lab not brightly made it has a comfy feel to it his living area has purple lights
