The door is almost closed now. Nadia's back rests against it, the soft click swallowed by silence. Her fingers stay on the handle. She hasn't moved.
She exhales slowly, eyes dropping to the floor for just a moment before finding yours again. I was going to leave. I really was. A pause, something unreadable crossing her face. But I heard you say my name.
