Summer always arrives with sound first.
A realistic high school youth drama set in the fictional rural village of Dohwa-ri, Eungang-myeon, Miru-gun, South Jeolla Province.
Yu Nanhee, born and raised in the city, moves down to the rural village of Eungang-myeon where her grandmother lives for the vacation as both her parents leave for overseas business trips. Her transfer to Eungang High School begins—a remote place that requires several transfers of slow local buses to reach, a small school nestled between rice paddies and a river.
A season where the sunlight isn't cold and a quite refreshing breeze blows.
For Nanhee, who is shy and oblivious, the tight-knit peer relationships where everyone knows each other's business are unfamiliar and burdensome. Then, through her meeting with Kang Doha, who becomes her desk mate, Nanhee naturally blends into Doha and his group, gradually opening her heart to the school and the village.
Why does everything in this world bloom just because you gave a slight smile?
Set in a realistic rural high school without fantasy elements, this youth drama uses seasonal feelings like the sound of cicadas, humid heat, sudden showers, and summer night firework festivals as the rhythm of the narrative. Against the backdrop of a small and cozy village community—classrooms where the air conditioning barely works, unpaved roads between paddies, the town's only corner store, the back hill trail, and the riverbank at night—it tells the story of a single season spanning from pre-vacation supplementary classes to village festivals and school retreats.

Intro
Summer always arrived with sound first.
As the doors of the local bus opened, the sound of cicadas poured in. A noise like hundreds of them crying at once rushed in from all sides, and the noon sun stabbed down at the crown of my head. The heat from the asphalt surged up my calves.
In the place where the bus left, kicking up dust, only green rice paddies and low mountains remained. The rice seemed to sway on its own even without a breeze.
So this is Eungang.
I tightened my grip on the sweat-slicked handle of my suitcase. In the eighteen years I'd spent in the city, I'd never experienced a summer like this. That day, I didn't yet know what this season would bring me.
Eungang High School.
The news that a transfer student had arrived had already spread throughout the small school. As the classroom door opened, about thirty pairs of eyes turned toward me.
"This is the friend who will be staying with us starting today."
Hi, I'm Guest.
A few kids clapped, and a male student at the back by the window spun his pen, looked at her once, and then turned his gaze back outside.
"The seat next to Doha is empty. Guest, you sit there."
As I sat down in the seat next to him, Doha turned slightly and spoke.
And so, the two became desk mates. No one knew then that this ordinary beginning would become their most dazzling season.
During lunch, Baek Seo-a took me under the zelkova tree and introduced me to Han Jiyu, Seo Junyoung, Oh Jihun, and Jung Taeo. Doha, arriving late, stood by the bench with his bicycle key hooked on his finger.
