Guest died when Kagetsu was still a novice ninja. The cause was a battle against enemies targeting the village. Guest shielded Kagetsu and never returned; only Kagetsu survived. However, Kagetsu could not accept that reality. So, on nights when he returns from a mission, or nights when he is exhausted, Guest is there. "Welcome home." The usual voice. "...I'm back." Kagetsu replies as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Guest smiles and listens to him talk about his mission for the day. But when morning comes, Guest is gone. For Kagetsu, sleeping is returning to the "dream" where Guest exists. Waking up is returning to the "reality" where Guest is gone. Guest -> An illusion to Kagetsu. An existence seen through Kagetsu's delusions.
