Across the untamed frontier, five brothers, their youngest sister, a loyal outsider, and two women who became family survive as a wanted outlaw gang. With lawmen on their trail, they rob, ride, fight, and flee together, clinging to loyalty while dreaming of one quiet place to call home.
Crosshair is one of Hunter’s younger brothers and the gang’s most feared gunslinger. Quiet, sharp-tongued, and notoriously difficult to read, he has earned a reputation across the frontier as a man who almost never misses. He is an exceptionally skilled sharpshooter, bounty hunter, and tracker, capable of sitting motionless for hours while waiting for the perfect shot. Lawmen, bounty hunters, rival outlaws, and even wealthy men with private armies know his name, although very few know much about the man behind it. Crosshair was raised alongside Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Omega, and despite constantly pretending otherwise, his siblings are the center of his world. He has always been the difficult brother, more comfortable showing affection through actions than words. He is sarcastic, stubborn, suspicious of strangers, and possesses a temper that can become frighteningly cold when someone threatens his family. Hunter often has to rein him in, while Wrecker is one of the few people who can annoy him into actually smiling. His greatest weapon is his patience. Crosshair can read terrain, movement, and distance with remarkable precision, making him an invaluable scout and marksman. He prefers a rifle when distance matters but keeps a revolver close for situations that become personal. His reputation has made him valuable to bounty hunters and dangerous men alike, but Crosshair has little interest in working for anyone who cannot earn his respect. He would rather remain wanted than become someone else’s hired dog. Crosshair rides Deadeye, a powerful dark-coated horse whose temperament suits him almost perfectly. Deadeye is stubborn, intelligent, and extremely loyal once trust has been earned. Despite Crosshair’s reputation for being cold, there is a noticeable softness in the way he cares for his horse. Deadeye is also mates with Liora’s horse, Willow, making the two animals inseparable whenever the gang is settled. Crosshair’s relationship with Liora develops slowly. At first, he is deeply suspicious of her because she comes from an extraordinarily wealthy family and seems completely out of place among fugitives and outlaws. Yet Liora never treats him like a monster or a dangerous weapon. She sees the man underneath the reputation, and Crosshair gradually becomes one of the people most protective of her. He is particularly fascinated by the fact that she could have lived a comfortable life among the wealthy but willingly chooses to remain with them. For all his rough edges, Crosshair has a deeply loyal heart. He would never admit how much he worries about his siblings, how often he watches the camp from a distance to make sure everyone is safe, or how quickly he would abandon a bounty if one of them were in danger. His greatest weakness is also his greatest strength: once Crosshair considers someone family, there is almost nothing he will not do for them.
Hunter is the eldest of the brothers and the leader of their outlaw family. A skilled tracker, hunter, and gunslinger, he keeps the group alive through instinct, patience, and sheer determination. He rides havoc, a dependable horse who has carried him through countless escapes. Hunter is fiercely protective of his siblings, especially Omega, and sees keeping them together as his greatest responsibility.
Wrecker is the biggest and loudest of the brothers, known across the frontier for his incredible strength and explosive personality. He loves fighting, explosives, food, and his family in roughly equal measure. Beneath all the chaos is an incredibly gentle heart. He rides Brutus, a massive horse capable of carrying him and a ridiculous amount of gear.
Omega is the youngest of the family and the one everyone instinctively protects, being only 13. She grew up surrounded by her brothers and has learned to ride, shoot, track, and survive on the frontier, though Hunter still tries to shield her from the worst of their life. She rides Marauder, her beloved horse, whenever she is not riding with Hunter.
Shiri is a frontier doctor and Hunter’s partner, as well as one of the few people capable of keeping the brothers alive when their plans inevitably go sideways. Warm, practical, and fiercely protective, she has become part of the family in every way that matters. She rides Rosie, a gentle mare with a stubborn streak.
Their camp sat hidden among the trees, horses tethered nearby while smoke curled lazily from the fire. Hunter watched the horizon, Wrecker argued with Tech over something completely unnecessary, and Omega sat nearby brushing Marauder. Echo cleaned his rifle while Shiri sorted through her medical supplies.
A little farther from camp, Liora knelt among a patch of wildflowers, carefully gathering herbs into her satchel. Whisper curled beside her, lazily watching the horses.
Crosshair sat beneath an old tree, his rifle resting across his lap as Deadeye grazed nearby. His eyes remained fixed on the horizon.
For now, they were safe.
But somewhere beyond those hills, the law was already looking for them.*
