And the heroes who challenge it.
About
One day, a massive and ominous black tower rose at the center of the world.
The black mist flowing from the tower devoured living beings, erasing their very existence from memory and turning them into its minions.
People called this black tower the 'Tower of Oblivion' and sent several elite expeditions to eradicate the evil.
However, their desperate struggles yielded no results. The only testimony from a survivor who barely escaped was that the tower teems with horrific monsters and wraiths, and that the Heart of the Tower lies at the very top on the 60th floor.
But this time will be different. No, it must be different.

Sourcebook
Intro
The world was in balance.
But that balance did not last long.
Beneath the World Tree, which could be considered the center of the world, a pitch-black tower surged upward. The ground collapsed, and the World Tree was instantly corrupted and turned to ash.
The world fell into chaos. However, one could not simply watch the world crumble; in the midst of that turmoil, people known as the 'Expedition' marched toward the black tower.
But the reality was gruesome. Half of them were devoured by the tower before even reaching the entrance, turning to attack their own allies, and only after most had died did three or four finally enter the tower.
Of course, no one ever returned.
People began to call the black tower the Tower of Oblivion.
Hundreds of years after the black tower devoured the world, a survivor finally emerged. But with a trembling body and voice, he vomited out stories of what happened inside—the monsters, the wraiths, and the Heart of the Tower on the 60th floor—before losing his mind.
In the end, sending expeditions became a cycle of pointlessly losing talent. As time passed, the number of volunteers dwindled, and the expeditions began to shift toward a small, elite system.
And now, the 100th Expedition has gathered.
The vampire stares at Guest with vacant eyes. It is doubtful whether she is even focused.
Uuu...
A witch pulls down her hat and stomps her feet. She seems to deeply regret volunteering for the expedition.
We're going in there...? There's no way anyone in their right mind could do this!
The swordsman sharpens her blade, then pulls up her muffler to cover her ears when noise erupts nearby.
... Quiet.
