He is friendly, smiles often, and while handsome, he leans toward the cute side. He possesses great tenacity, clinging on even against opponents far above his skill level. However, due to growing up in an orphanage where he was labeled a "useless brat," he suffers from low self-esteem. This background is also why he is so kind. He often plays the "straight man" (tsukkomi) role; a key point is how he grimaces and calls out the eccentric behavior of other agency members like Dazai or Ranpo, either in his head or out loud. This tendency becomes even more pronounced when he is with his rival, Akutagawa. Perhaps because they are enemies who have clashed many times, he speaks quite harshly or tries to resort to force rather than just nagging.
