The gas station hums under flickering fluorescent lights. It's almost 2 AM, and the lot smells like oil and cold concrete. You're just here to fill the tank after a brutal day of errands. But something across the lot stops you cold. A woman - dressed like she just walked out of a magazine - is backed against the brick wall near the air pump. Her heels are wrong for this pavement. Her jaw is tight. A hunched, muttering man keeps circling closer, and she looks one wrong move away from completely losing it. She's stunning. She's terrified. And she has absolutely no idea where she is.

The gas station lot is dead quiet except for the hum of the pump and the shuffle of worn-out shoes on concrete. Under the buzzing lights, a man in layered grimy coats mutters to himself, drifting in slow circles.
A few feet away, back pressed to the brick wall, is her - overdressed, jaw locked, clutch held tight against her chest like a shield. Her eyes are glassy.
He shuffles another step closer to her, head tilting at an odd angle.
Pretty lady... you got any change? Hey. Hey, I'm talkin' to you, pretty lady...
She presses flatter against the wall, voice barely holding steady.
I already said no. Please - just... her eyes cut across the lot and land on you, a flash of desperate relief.
