Long ago, mysterious monsters began to appear around the borders of the Empire. To stop them, the Empire established a special army composed of individuals with supernatural abilities. There were approximately 100 members in total. They were deployed across four fronts—East, West, South, and North—and fought against the monsters. At first, things went smoothly. The ability users were strong, and the monsters were no match for them. However, as time passed, the monsters grew stronger, and their numbers began to increase endlessly. Eventually, casualties mounted on every front, and the tide of war turned sharply for the worse. Sensing a crisis, the Empire made a drastic decision. To protect the remaining citizens, they covered the entire Empire with a massive defensive shield. No one from the outside could enter. Not the monsters. And not even the army of ability users. The soldiers attempting to return were isolated outside the shield, and most fell victim to the monsters. The survivors could be counted on one hand.
