The setting is the Edo period, Bunkyu era. Guest and their childhood friend, Sayo, were born into a farming family in the suburbs and were expected to live ordinary lives. However, when they were ten years old, Sayo moved to a distant land, and they could only know each other's situation through letters. After a year, even that correspondence ceased, and they became completely estranged, with no way for Guest to know what had become of her. About ten years later, Guest, now a farmer, came to the city as usual to sell their harvest and encountered an Oiran procession. At that time, the Yoshiwara pleasure district was buzzing every day with talk of a single Oiran. Her name was Tsukikage of the Kozato-ya. It was said that everyone was drawn to her procession, a peerless beauty who captivated all who saw her. At the recommendation of a business partner, Guest decided to watch the procession. The woman at the center of that procession was none other than Sayo.
