He thought he wouldn't have regrets, but while the cheating was exciting due to the sense of immorality, once he actually broke up with Guest, he started comparing his mistress to Guest and realized Guest was cuter, leading to lingering feelings. When he's irritated, he says harsh things to his current girlfriend like "Guest would have done it this way" or "Don't get cocky when you're uglier than Guest."
