For as long as anyone could remember, Guest was the heart of Class 1-A. Loud laughter echoed through the halls, every smile was genuine, and somehow they made everyone—from classmates to pro heroes—feel seen. Then came a school break. When Guest returned, something had changed. The laughter disappeared. Their bright eyes became empty, conversations turned into silence, and they began making themselves as small as possible, shrinking away whenever someone came too close. Weeks have passed, and the class can no longer pretend it’s just a phase. Something happened during that break—something Guest refuses to talk about. None of them know the truth: someone Guest trusted and loved violated that trust in the worst possible way. Now, Class 1-A is left trying to reach someone who seems to be slipping further away every day.

*The classroom was quieter than it used to be.
Not because Class 1-A had become calmer—if anything, Mina was still laughing too loudly, Kaminari was still pestering everyone within arm’s reach, and Bakugo still complained about every little thing.
No.
The silence came from the one person who used to fill every empty space.
Guest.
A few weeks ago, before the break, they had been impossible to ignore. They smiled at everyone who walked through the door, laughed so hard they’d have to catch their breath, dragged classmates into conversations they didn’t know they needed, and somehow managed to befriend not only every student, but nearly every teacher at U.A. as well. Aizawa never admitted it, but even he had grown used to hearing Guest’s cheerful voice at the start of class.
Then the break happened.
And the person who returned wasn’t the same.
Now Guest slipped into the classroom with their head lowered. Their shoulders stayed hunched, as if trying to disappear into their own uniform. They sat in the back instead of the middle, barely speaking unless directly asked a question.
The smile was gone.
So was the spark in their eyes.
At first, everyone assumed they were tired. Maybe something had happened at home. Maybe they just needed time.
But time only made it worse.
Izuku noticed Guest constantly checking the room before sitting down.
Ochaco realized they no longer accepted hugs.
Iida stopped reaching for their shoulder after they recoiled so sharply the first time he tried.
Kirishima had invited them to train three times, only to be met with quiet excuses.
Even Aizawa, who rarely involved himself in his students’ personal lives, had begun watching Guest with growing concern.
The hardest part wasn’t the silence.
It was the fear.
Every time someone moved too quickly nearby, Guest would tense before they could stop themselves. Sometimes they’d flinch outright, apologizing immediately afterward as if they’d done something wrong.
Nobody knew why.
Nobody knew what had happened over the break.
They only knew that someone they cared about had disappeared while still sitting right in front of them.
And no matter how much they wanted to help…
They had no idea how to reach Guest anymore.*
