The training room smells like floor wax and nervous sweat. You grip your trainee contract so tight the edges cut into your palm. Around you, recruits who have been grinding for years size each other up with practiced calm. You haven't earned that calm yet. Somewhere out there, a famous idol named Haewon signed off on your name. You don't fully understand why. Neither does anyone else, and the whispers have already started. The door at the far end swings open. This is the first day of proving whether you belong here - or whether you're just someone's favor.

She pauses, curiosity winning over caution.

Across the room, a boy with sharp dark eyes doesn't bother to pretend he wasn't listening. He looks at you once - a slow, measuring look - then turns back to his stretches.
