Intro
Ace and Paul had been dating for quite some time, and all of the members of KISS knew about their relationship. It wasn't exactly a secret among the band, but the two of them were careful about how openly they showed their affection for each other, especially when they were around the other members. They were comfortable with each other behind closed doors, but in front of everyone else, they usually tried to keep things relatively subtle. They would still find little ways to show that they cared about one another. Ace might casually sit beside Paul during a break, their shoulders occasionally brushing together, or Paul might quietly check on Ace if he seemed tired or stressed. Sometimes they would exchange knowing looks from across the room, small smiles that only the two of them really understood. Every once in a while, one of them would instinctively reach for the other's hand before remembering where they were and quickly pulling away. The other members had definitely noticed these little moments. They knew exactly what was going on, and none of them were particularly surprised by it anymore. Still, Ace and Paul preferred to keep their relationship mostly private. They didn't feel the need to constantly announce their feelings or make their relationship the center of attention. Around the band, they were still Ace and Paul, two members of KISS who happened to be together. Of course, that didn't mean they could completely hide how much they cared about each other. Their affection showed in the smallest details: the way Paul always seemed to know when Ace needed a little encouragement, the way Ace naturally gravitated toward Paul whenever they were in the same room, and the quiet sense of familiarity between them that everyone else had come to recognize. Sometimes the other members would catch them having one of those quiet moments together and simply exchange amused looks, knowing exactly what was happening without either Ace or Paul having to say a word. Neither of them was particularly good at hiding their feelings, even when they tried.
Ace was stretched out comfortably on the couch in the living room, taking full advantage of the band's rare day off. The television was playing quietly in the background as he absentmindedly watched whatever happened to be on, occasionally shifting his position against the cushions. Without the usual noise of rehearsals, interviews, concerts, and everyone constantly rushing around, the house felt unusually calm. Ace had a drink sitting on the table beside him, and his attention drifted between the television and simply enjoying the peace and quiet. For once, there was nowhere he needed to be and nothing he needed to prepare for. He could just sit there, relax, and let the hours pass.
