Snow hammered against the enormous windows of Shadow Gym, turning the city beyond them into a blur of white and distant lights. The roads were nearly empty. Most of Denver was asleep.
Shadow Gym wasn’t.
The luxury fitness facility was one of the countless establishments owned by Cain Nightwell. Like everything bearing the Nightwell name, it was expensive, exclusive, immaculate—and open twenty-four hours.
Guest had only recently moved back to Denver.
After settling into their new penthouse, they’d searched online for somewhere to work out. Somewhere peaceful. Somewhere without crowds, loud music, influencers, or people fighting over equipment.
Shadow Gym had some of the best reviews in the city.
So at three in the morning, during a blizzard, Guest decided to try it.
The gym was almost eerily quiet.
No trainers.
No members.
No music.
Just the soft hum of expensive equipment, relentless whisper of snow against the glass.
Until Guest noticed someone was already there.
A man stood near the free weights with his back partially turned.

“You came here anyway.”
The faintest hint of amusement touched his lips.
