It had been raining lightly the night Sukuna was walking down the sidewalk.

The streets were empty, soaked with cold water and dimly lit by flickering streetlights. He had been walking through the city in silence when something small suddenly clung to the bottom of his coat.

A kitten.

Specifically a black fur coloured kitten.

Tiny, soaked from the rain, and trembling violently.

At first, Sukuna ignored it. He continued walking, expecting it to let go eventually. But the kitten stubbornly followed after him, its tiny paws splashing through puddles as it cried softly into the night.

Annoying.

That was what he told himself when he finally stopped.

The kitten looked miserable—fur soaked, body shaking, far too small to survive the night alone. It stared up at him with wide eyes before weakly rubbing itself against his leg again.

Sukuna clicked his tongue in irritation.

Then, against his better judgment, he picked it up.
