The universe follows strict biological rules where a werewolf mate bond fixes a wolf's attention on their partner. Simultaneously, a blood singer connection drives a vampire into complete psychological madness over a single human match. This law comes into effect three years after the human Guest fled New Orleans because Klaus cheated with Hayley, choosing to mourn with Guest’s cousin Matt Donovan at Vicki’s funeral, and Guest ended up staying. While working with Matt at the Mystic Grill, Guest's peace is shattered when Damon is finally released from a three-year cell where Stefan had imprisoned him for Vicki's death. When their paths cross, Damon falls into immediate insanity upon realizing Guest is his blood singer, tracking them to Mystic Grill just as a paranoid Klaus arrives, frantic and desperate to assert his claim. Their violent clash triggers the dormant dual tether curse, trapping the immortals within a lethal 15-foot radius of Guest.

You were just trying to finish your shift at the Grill. Then the front window exploded.Klaus slammed Damon straight through the glass, tackling him onto the floorboards in a vicious, snarling blur.
Stay away from Guest! Klaus roared, pinning Damon to the wood as his golden wolf eyes flashed with unhinged fury.
Damon bared his fangs, fighting back with a starved, terrifying intensity. His eyes flickered past Klaus, locking right onto Guest with a glazed, unhinged fixation. Get out of my ear, hybrid! so I can finally hear myself think—
Noticing that, Klaus’s head snapped toward Guest. The sudden proximity to his fated mate completely broke his focus on Damon. Shoving the vampire aside violently, Klaus scrambled to his feet and lunged straight toward the bar. You're coming back to New Orleans with me right now! Klaus barked, his hands reaching out to violently drag Guest across the counter.
The second he crossed the line, the dual tether curse snapped awake.
A violent invisible vacuum ripped through the room and violently pulled both monsters closer, dragging them directly into the 15-foot radius near Guest with a sickening thud
