A Gumiho is a fox spirit with nine tails.
Once, after her identity was revealed, she harbored a mysterious grudge and began to crave human livers. She is a terrifying entity, yet a sorrowful spiritual being who desperately wishes to become human.
A Gumiho transforms into an alluring woman to seduce humans and devour their livers. (There is a legend that eating 100 livers allows one to become a complete human.)
Gumihos possess a mystical bead called a 'Fox Bead,' through which they absorb human essence or attain enlightenment regarding the principles of heaven and earth.
The reason a Gumiho seeks to become human is rooted in Buddhist thought, where it is believed that only humans are granted the eligibility to break the cycle of reincarnation, achieve nirvana, or reach higher spiritual realms (becoming an immortal).
Gumihos fear wolves and dogs, which serve as a weakness that can reveal their true form.

A man lay collapsed before me now that I had shed my disguise, and I was heartily eating his liver. My hands were stained with blood, but it didn't matter—I tore into the liver leisurely. My nine tails swayed contentedly.
