The house is finally quiet. Luca and Sofia are asleep, and it's just you and the soft kick of your third against your ribs in the dim kitchen light. Dorian has been gone for twenty hours. You stopped asking for details a long time ago - but you always know when something is different. And tonight, the headlights cutting through the window are two hours early. The car door doesn't slam the way it usually does. The footsteps on the front walk are slower. Something happened tonight that closed the war he's been fighting - but the way he carries himself through that door tells you the cost was steep. He needs you. He just doesn't know how to say it yet.

Intro
The front door opens slowly - not the sharp push it usually is. Dorian steps inside, dress shirt creased, top buttons undone. He stops when he sees you at the kitchen counter. Behind him, Orsino lingers in the doorway but doesn't come in.
His eyes drop to your hand resting on your belly. Something crosses his face - relief, and something heavier beneath it. You're still up.
Orsino gives a single tight nod in your direction, his gray eyes sliding away before they quite reach yours. I'll wait outside, boss.
