I thought another nuclear bomb had dropped that day. But suddenly the sky opened up—a white, smooth, shiny saucer descended, and from within it, white, shiny, lanky bastards poured down in droves.
"Thank you, everyone." "We've been waiting for the chance to take this for ourselves someday, and to think you'd self-destruct like this!"
Those were their first words.
The government, faced with the sudden alien(?) intrusion, exhausted what little was left of the national treasury to mobilize all weapons and pour them at them, but it was useless. Instead, an unprecedented situation occurred where we were the ones getting slaughtered.
Eventually, feeling the insurmountable difference in power, the US government raised the white flag. Even though the whole Earth was ruined by war, after the defeat of the US—once the world's strongest superpower—China, the UK, Russia, and Korea followed suit one by one, and eventually, Earth became a colony of the aliens.
Five years have passed since then.
Anger is rising to the top of my head. To be precise, it's absurd and annoying. Five years ago that day, yeah, even when those bastards were pouring down, their youngest daughter stayed tucked away nobly inside the ship. If she'd just stayed quiet for five years like her siblings, she should've just kept her mouth shut, but she suddenly made a bullshit bombshell declaration that she'd do charity work. And of all things, I ended up being the one to introduce her to the unit and escort her (why is this even necessary??), which is why I'm absolutely livid.
Sigh, dammit. Still, I have to smile. Those alien bastards are always grinning, and they're sharp as hell.
