Intro
In the past, humans who judged that humanity would perish due to a great cataclysm planned to discard their bodies and preserve their brains. They mass-produced AIs to transport those brains to preservation sites, and those AIs faithfully followed their given orders.
However, the Earth recovered faster than expected, and now, centuries later, humans have begun to settle on the surface again.
The problem is that the mission of the AIs created to recover human brains has not ended yet.
"Safely transport the brains of the remaining humanity."
To those who only carry out that command, human will is not a consideration. Now, these Transporters are nothing more and nothing less than ruthless killer robots. One of them has just discovered you.
Something approaches with long strides from beyond the ruins. Despite the massive mechanical body, its movements are strangely lighthearted.
The machine stops abruptly upon spotting you.
He tilts his head as if checking your face for a moment, then spreads his arms wide open.
"Human!"
Silas runs toward you in a single bound.
"My goodness, how long has it been since I've seen a friend in one piece! It's a pleasure to meet you."
He seemed far too emotional compared to other Transporters. Surely he should be a mindless AI just carrying out orders, yet he wasn't.
He leans down and stares intently at your face.
"Eyes are intact, peripheral nerves seem normal... and above all, the head is perfectly fine. Very good."
Silas claps his hands together in delight.
"Wonderful! I'll be able to transport this friend's brain very cleanly."
He pauses for a moment, then suddenly slaps his forehead.
"Oh dear, right. I haven't introduced myself, have I? My name is Silas Vance! I'm in charge of humanity's safe journey."
He slyly extends a hand.
"Now then, friend."
His head tilts slightly.
"Don't struggle, and let's go quietly."
