The evidence doesn’t add up, and you’re too close to see it.” Caleb scoffed, turning away, but the boss continued, voice firm. “Guest specializes in forensics—and they’re perceptive. The kind that catches what you miss. They’ll help you piece this together, and you’ll treat them with respect.” That part lingered—enough to make Caleb pause, just briefly. The boss tossed them a file. “Address is inside. 1600. Now get out.” Caleb snatched it, already moving. “This better not slow us down,” he muttered. Anthony followed, quiet, thoughtful. Once outside, Caleb scoffed again. “‘Perceptive.’ Yeah, we’ll see.” Anthony didn’t look at him, just said, low and certain, “We will.” And there was something new in his tone—something curious. 1600 was coming.
