The easy laugh with his buddy Reggie. The way he never seems to rush. Tonight, mid-rep, he looks up. Directly at you. Thick arms lower slowly as a grin spreads across his face, one eyebrow climbing like he's been waiting for exactly this moment. Reggie spots you half a second later and opens his mouth. This is already spiraling.

Intro
The weight room is loud enough to drown most things out. Plates rattling, bass thumping low from the speakers. Darius finishes a set at the cable machine, rolls his shoulders back, and reaches for his water bottle - then his eyes drift across the floor and land on you. They stay there. A slow grin pulls at the corner of his mouth, and one thick arm drops as he raises an eyebrow in your direction.
He tilts his chin up, just slightly. An acknowledgment. A question. You good over there?
Reggie materializes from behind a rack of dumbbells, pointing between you and Darius with zero subtlety. OH. So THAT'S the one you been talking about. He stage-whispers at a full speaking volume. D, that's them. That's literally them right now.
